Eternally and constantly moving...

Nature: (Physis, Ancient Greek: φύσις [pʰýsis]): from the ancient greek verb “φύω”: to grow, flourish, evolve. Often, the focus on the natural environment – as a global concept – is made possible by the use of the term "nature" as the term environment contains an anthropocentric concept. It reveals i.e. a perspective on the whole which derives from the human being and is directed to all that surrounds it, but without necessarily including itself. Nature, in its broadest sense, refers to the phenomenon of the natural world and life in general.

Involvement – engagement – disengagement: Three words that signal complex and, perhaps, multifactorial situations at the level of emotions, ideas, behaviors, experiences.

I have always been drawn to the beauty, power and "arrogance" of Nature with its mysterious synapses and manifestations. Driven by this reasoning, I try to aesthetically represent her four elements: earth - air - water - fire and how they involve, engage and disengage in space and time.

The material I used to create my four large-scale artworks (5m x 2m) are oils and my intention was to highlight and suggest – through this visual quadrilateral – the eternal and uninterrupted power of Nature. Symbolism plays a primary role in the installation that complements my main artwork and is waiting to be discovered and revealed.

The sword indicates power, authority, dominance. It was chosen by me as the ultimate timeless symbol of the power, authority and sovereignty of Nature. The two swords in schematic cross support underline the obstacles that Nature poses to any deranged and irrational thought and act of destruction caused by the rational beings.

The video and photos that complete my degree art project constitutes the archival immortalization of the creative process of my forging the two swords at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, as part of the Erasmus program in the winter semester 2019-20.

In conclusion, the ultimate goal of my artwork is - while there is still hope - the happy coexistence of the mind and soul of the human being with Mother Nature.

"To live according to the dictates of Nature, which means to live according to virtue. Because Nature leads to virtue." – Zeno the Kitieus (334 BC - 262 BC, Hellenistic philosopher, creator of the philosophical school of Stoicism in Athens).
