"Art is a distinctive way of looking at the world"

"Art is how we voice ourselves to allow others to see what makes us unique"

I have always been drawn to the beauty, power and "arrogance" of Nature with its mysterious synapses and manifestations in space and time. That is why my artworks usually revolve around nature and the human being.

In my attempt to tell a new story, I combine memories and observations from the natural and social environment and - relying on one hand on the conscious and on the other on the subconscious – I invent and transfer these specific thoughts into an image.

The images/landscapes bring out something fantastical, I am no longer only interested in the tactile, but equally interested in the myth behind the landscape, i.e. the mythical aspect of landscape painting. My paintings begin to bring out something monumental, that one can enter nature and come into a conversation, a dialogue with her.

My involvement in the art of Hagiography (Byzantine Icons) helped me immerse myself deeply in the study of the nature of the human being and this, in turn, led me to try to show this connection of human nature with the Divine.

Additionally, my studies in archeology helped me to combine two areas of my interest, the science of Archaeology and Fine Arts. This allowed me to develop a different style of design which I used to illustrate a 200 years’ anniversary album which includes designs related to the Hellenic Revolution, the primary theme being the evolution of the Greek flag as it appears in ancient finds to its current form.

In conclusion, the ultimate purpose of all my artistic work is the encounter of nature, reason and soul, a meeting of the absolute magic of Nature with the coexistence of matter and spirit that make up the human being, which is a mystery in itself...
